In the fourth quarter of 2021, the top communication apps in Romania showcased diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at how each app performed during this period, based on Sensor Tower data.

Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. experienced a peak in weekly downloads at approximately 60K during the week of November 1. The app's weekly revenue fluctuated, peaking at around $131 in late September and seeing a low of $41 in late December. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at around 5.53M and closing the quarter at approximately 5.66M.

WhatsApp Messenger saw notable increases in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads peaked at around 63K in mid-December. Revenue hovered around $38 throughout most of the quarter, with a slight dip to $29 in early December. Active users remained steady, fluctuating slightly around the 6.28M mark.

My Orange Fix from Orange Romania Communications SA showed a significant drop in weekly downloads from a high of about 57K in early October to under 10K by the end of December. Active users, however, showed an initial rise, peaking at around 115K in late November before stabilizing at approximately 103K by the end of the year.

Telegram experienced varied performance with weekly downloads peaking at around 43K in late November. Active users increased significantly from approximately 788K in late September to around 1.02M in early October before stabilizing around 871K by the end of December.

Snapchat from Snap Inc saw its weekly downloads rise, peaking at around 43K in the final week of December. Active users also showed an upward trend, starting the quarter at approximately 1.97M and ending at around 2.15M. Revenue for Snapchat was minimal, with only a few weeks showing any revenue, peaking at $10 in mid-October.
